Abdulaziz Alshalfan, PhD
Dr. Abdulaziz Alshalfan is an Assistant Professor of Operations and Supply Chain Management in the Department of Information Systems and Operations Management at the College of Business Administration, Kuwait University. His work focuses on how organizations can make better decisions, design smarter processes, and create value in increasingly complex environments. His research spans topics including supply chain management, digital platforms, multi-criteria decision-making, quality management, and technology-enabled service operations. He teaches courses in operations management, modeling, and decision-making.
In 2022, he received the H.H. Sheikh Salem Al Ali Al Sabah Informatics Award, which recognizes contributions to digital transformation and informatics across the Arab world. He is also the recipient of the Alfred J. Battaglia Memorial Fellowship from Rutgers University and was named a finalist for the KIPCO Tmkeen Award for Young Entrepreneurs in 2019.
He holds a Ph.D. in Supply Chain Management from Rutgers Business School, an M.S. in Industrial Engineering from Columbia University, and a B.S. in Industrial & Systems Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Prior to academia, he worked across several industries, including EdTech, FinTech, and Energy.
Dr. Alshalfan is an active member of several professional organizations, including INFORMS (the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences), the Production and Operations Management Society (POMS), the Academy of Management (AOM), the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE), and the Industrial Engineering and Operations Management Society (IEOM). Locally, he is a member of the Kuwait Society of Engineers and the Kuwait Economic Society. He also maintains a commitment to community engagement through volunteer work with organizations such as LOYAC, the Kuwait Red Crescent Society, and the Kuwait Association for the Care of Children in Hospital (KACCH).
